Buying Foods

Looking for food in “Food”-uoka

Fukuoka boasts delightful local food, both traditional and modern, and also a wide range of authentic foreign cuisines. With many non-Japanese Asian immigrants, the international cuisine scene is as tasty and appealing as the Japanese cuisine. Whether you’re looking for a traditional red-bean azuki dessert, or for the comforts of home through a can of Lilikoi Passion or a Terry’s Chocolate Orange, somewhere in Fukuoka, you’ll be able to find it.

Groceries

Food Allergens

If you have an allergy to shellfish, tree nuts, gluten, or other food allergy restrictions, it would be good to know how to relay these concerns at a restaurant or supermarket. See the tab on Allergens for some information we have gathered!

Vegetarian, Vegan, & Halal

You may be wondering, “Will I be able to find something that suits my dietary restrictions in my area?” or “What are some first-hand recommendations for…?”

These two websites may help with your search:

  • Vegan/ Vegetarian Friendly Restaurants in Fukuoka
  • Japan Muslim Guide

Fukuoka JETs have worked on creating an interactive map for your use in exploring restaurants around Fukuoka. Check out the map here!
