Area Leader for 2024 - 2025: Nikki Zhu
Hello! My name is Nikki and I'm from Sydney, Australia. Starting October 2024, I'll be in my third year of being a Kitakyushu ALT. In my free time, I enjoy discovering new restaurants around the area. I also have an interest in collecting Goshuins (shrine stamps), watching movies, going to the game center, and collecting an ungodly amount of Gachapons.
About Kitakyushu East
It’s been almost two years since coming to Kitakyushu, but I still discover so much about our city. There is a lot of history but also so many hidden gems within and in the outskirts of the city. Kokura station also has a shinkansen station, so it is also convenient to travel outside of Kitakyushu every now and then for a different type of scenery.
If you are looking for a local celebrity of Kitakyushu East, I highly recommend the mountain fairy, Nukky-man! You can often find her at Hiraodai.
Kitakyushu East consists of 5 areas:
- Kokura-Kita-ku
- Kokura-Minami-ku
- Moji-ku
- Tobata-ku
- Wakamatsu-ku
There is a lot to offer in every aspect of Kitakyushu. These are just a few of them:
- Kokura Castle
- Mojiko Retro
- Wakato Bridge (our very own Golden Gates!)
- Mount Adachi
- Round 1
- Green Park
- Kokura Beef
- Tobata champon
- Yaki-curry (Mojiko)
- Wakamatsu vegetables! (Tomatoes, corn, and cabbage!)
