Fukuoka JET Spotlight: Fukuoka Foodies 2

Welcome to the third chapter of Fukuoka JET Spotlight! This time, we asked our JETs about their favourite restaurants from around the prefecture. Check them out!

Justin, ex-SHS ALT

Q: What is the name and location of the restaurant you recommend?

Bagzy Van Zyl. It is located across from JR Yukuhashi Station. You can find it here on the second floor.

Q: What kind of food do they sell, and what caught your eye about their menu?

Private chef Suzamoto (Instagram) creates a new menu nightly. The restaurant's menu was curated to pair specifically with the wine they carry. Everyday menu items include fresh pasta dishes, pizza, soup, and vegetable dishes.

Please note that this restaurant primarily purchases from the local high school's agriculture department and maintain a farm-to-table vibe.

Q: What's their vibe?

The restaurant itself is semi-formal in decoration, but casually dressed guests are always there too.

Q: What have you tried that you really loved?

Some of my favourite dishes Suzumoto has made have been Gorgonzola Bacon Pecan Penne, Slow-roasted Pork Tenderloin, and his Chicken Confit dinner.

Q: What makes you want to go back?

Ms. Manami Inoue (the owner) is passionate about travelling the world with Suzumoto to bring back ideas and new products. She has the most welcoming energy and will treat you like family as soon as you walk in the door. She offers a top-quality experience and will not forget your face. It's also the perfect atmosphere for a romantic date.

Ms. Inoue is also Japan's largest South African Chenin wine vendor!
